Get Ready To Fly is heard in the sold out arena which brings everyone to their feet. As AJ steps out on the stage wearing a pair of faded blue jeans, a checkered black and white dress shirt unbuttoned, a necklace with a cross on it, and a pair of white sneakers; applause is heard in the arena for his efforts given at Wrestlemania. AJ stops at the edge of the stage and looks to his left and right nodding his head before continuing to walk down the aisle. AJ walks down the aisle shaking the hands of the fans as he makes his way to the ring. As AJ reaches the ring steps he picks up a microphone that is laying on the top step. AJ makes his way into the ring and stands in the middle of the ring looking out into the crowd as his music comes to a stop.
AJ Styles: Thank you all for that welcome. It is certainly not something I deserve after the way I have acted over the past few months. When Ric came through my dressing room door my life changed both for the better and for the worse. While having Ric as my manager I gained my confidence back and I won my first WWE:R World Title. At the same time I turned my back on you guys, the people who had been there for me from day one encouraging me to keep going, having my back when times were at their worst.
At Wrestlemania I vowed two things; first, to put on the best show of the night and to give everything I had to offer and second, to regain the ROH World Championship. I can honestly tell you I gave everything I had to offer. I laid it all out on the line to try and regain the title. Unfortunately I came up short on my second promise. After Wrestlemania ended I came back to the arena and sat in the stands and looked down where the ring would be. I know you are wondering why I am tell you this and I promise I won’t make it a long story.
As I sat in the stands I took a look back at my career so far in wrestling. I looked at all my ups and all my downs. I asked myself do I need to continue on, or have I had enough. For a long moment, and almost a permanent moment I said that I had enough and I could honestly just step back.
Please don’t go! Please don’t go! Please don’t go! chants are heard all over the arena. AJ lowers his microphone whips a tear from his eye as the fans continue to chat. You are phenomenal! You are phenomenal! You are Phenomenal! chants begin to start and stops AJ from continuing his speech. AJ signals for the crowd to quite down and as they do he raises his microphone back up.
AJ Styles: Thank you, thank you all so much for that. It warms my heart to know that you all still care about me so much. You are as much as family as the one I have back home. But as I sat in the sat in the stands I continued to think. When I did, I thought about all I could still do here. There is one person in particular though who made me want to stay. It wasn’t a good reason though let me tell you. The thought of Mr. Anderson being the WWE:R ROH World Champion used to sound good to me, he was a friend and he deserved it. Not to say that he still doesn’t. Ken has worked hard in his career to get to where he has, just like everyone in the back.
The reason Ken made me want to stay though is unfinished business. You see, a couple of weeks before Wrestlemania Ken decided to attack me from behind. And I said this in my interview before Mania that I would get Ken back after my business was done there. Well it just so happens that he won the match, so, when I do get my revenge it’ll be just as sweet if not more when I beat him and take that title from him.
But you see I am getting ahead of myself. That is my long term goal now. Before I can just face the champion I will have to prove myself again since I used my rematch clause at Wrestlemania. But that is ok with me. I don’t mind having to prove myself. I want to consider this a personal challenge to better myself to, prepare myself for a match with Ken. This week WWE:R is having a Supershow, a second cross brand event. I’m going against someone who also knows what it is like to be on top in a former promotion. He was either loved or hated, never really in between just like me. The only differences you will in him and I are easy enough to see. The first being how we dress. The second one is how we wrestle. I guess you are wondering by now who I am talking about. I know some of you may have figured it out. For those of you who haven’t figured it out, tonight I will be facing John Cena.
A mixed reaction from the crowd erupted with boos and cheers. The reactions that John Cena garnered from WWE in the past had followed him to WWE:R. The reaction caused AJ to lower his microphone while the fans expressed their feelings on John Cena. It didn’t take long before the crowd silenced and the feelings of AJ Styles were apparent by the smile on his face. AJ raised the microphone to speak once more to crowd.
AJ Styles: As I said, the feelings on John are mixed. My feelings on John are like this; John you are nice guy and have worked hard in your career to get to where you are. I have disrespect for you and your abilities in the ring, but come the Supershow you are my first opponent on my way back to a winning streak and back on the road to the WWE:R ROH World Championship. I expect nothing less but the best from you in our match and you shouldn’t expect any less from me. John it’s going to be one hell of a match that will bring all these people to their feet and give them their money’s worth. But in the end only one of us can win, and that person is going to be The Phenomenal A…J…Styles!
The crowd got up on their feet as AJ dropped the microphone to the mat. Get Ready To Fly began to play over the speakers as the fans were cheering for AJ Styles. AJ exited the ring shaking hands with the fans as he walked up the aisle. When AJ got to the stage he turned around and looked out into the crowd as the music played. AJ gave one more nod the crowd as he walked off into the back leaving the scene to go to a commercial break.
